Sunlight is roughly 53% infrared, 44% visible light, and 3% UV. When a shop advertises "98% IR rejection," that's a reading taken at a single wavelength — it ignores the 44% of heat arriving as visible light. A film can hit 98% on that test and still let most of the heat through.
