Know Your Numbers

What Tint Specs Actually Mean

VLT

How dark it looks

Visible Light Transmission — the % of light that gets through. 5% is limo-dark, 70% is nearly clear. It's the number NY law meters on your front windows. Darkness ≠ heat rejection.

UV

The health number

Blocks the rays that fade interiors and damage skin. Every film we install — including entry dyed film — blocks up to 99% of UV. If a film doesn't, it doesn't belong on your car.

IR

The heat you feel

Infrared is the radiant warmth on your arm at a red light. Ceramic particles physically block it; dyed film mostly absorbs it into the glass — and re-radiates it at you.

TSER

The honest number

Total Solar Energy Rejected — all the sun's energy combined. Dyed film: 15–30%. Ceramic: 45–65%+. Same VLT, higher TSER wins. It's the spec to compare films on.

Straight talk on dyed film: it delivers the look, the privacy, and the same 99% UV block as everything else — but it does not stop heat. If a cooler cabin is the goal, that's ceramic's job, not a darker shade. Read the full spec guide →

Carbon Film
The Smart Upgrade

Carbon Film

Carbon window film uses carbon particles embedded in the film to block infrared light and reject heat without interfering with electronic signals. Unlike dyed film, carbon won't fade to purple over time — it maintains its dark matte finish for the life of the film. It blocks approximately 40-45% of infrared heat that enters through your windows, keeping your cabin noticeably cooler. Carbon film is the sweet spot for drivers who want real performance without the premium price of ceramic.

  • 40-45% IR heat rejection
  • No signal interference
  • Fade-resistant matte finish
  • 5-7 year lifespan

Our Most Popular

Ceramic Film

Ceramic window film is the gold standard in the tinting industry. It uses nano-ceramic particles that are non-conductive and non-metallic, meaning zero interference with your phone, GPS, Bluetooth, or radio signals. Ceramic film rejects up to 65% of solar heat and blocks 99% of UV rays while maintaining excellent optical clarity — your windows won't look hazy or overly dark from the inside. This is what we install on the majority of vehicles that come through WRP, and it's what we recommend for anyone who spends real time in their car.

  • Up to 65% heat rejection
  • 99% UV protection
  • Crystal-clear optical clarity
  • Lifetime color stability

Nano-Ceramic Film
The Ultimate Protection

Nano-Ceramic Film

Nano-ceramic film is the highest-performing window film available today. Brands like STEK uses advanced nano-technology to pack microscopic ceramic particles at a higher density than standard ceramic film, achieving up to 97% infrared heat rejection and blocking 99% of UV rays. The result is a cabin that stays dramatically cooler even in direct summer sun — we're talking a measurable difference you'll feel immediately. Nano-ceramic also offers the best optical clarity of any tint film, with virtually no haze or color shift. It's the film we put on our own cars.
