Color PPF

Paint protection that doesn't just protect — it transforms.

Color PPF gives you a full color change with the self-healing, impact-resistant properties of premium paint protection film.

Satin bronze color PPF on a Mercedes-AMG GLE headlight and fender

Two Products. One Install.

Traditional color changes require vinyl wrap — which looks great but offers zero impact protection. Color PPF combines the aesthetic of a full color change with the protective performance of paint protection film. You get the color you want and the defense your paint needs, all in a single layer.

Available in gloss, matte, and satin finishes across a wide range of colors. The film self-heals from light scratches with heat, resists rock chips and road debris, and won't yellow or peel over time. It's the future of vehicle customization — and we're one of the few shops in NYC certified to install it.

What Is Paint Protection Film?

Paint protection film — also called PPF or a clear bra — is a thick, optically clear thermoplastic urethane film professionally wrapped over your vehicle's painted surfaces. Unlike wax, sealants, or ceramic coatings, PPF provides physical impact protection: it absorbs rock chips, gravel strikes, sandblasting from highway driving, and parking-lot scratches before they ever reach the paint.

At WRP we install STEK films exclusively — a self-healing, hydrophobic film line backed by a manufacturer warranty of up to 10 years. Light scratches in the film disappear with heat from the sun or warm water, so the car keeps looking freshly detailed while the film quietly takes the abuse New York roads dish out.

PPF is invisible on the car, safe for factory paint, and professionally removable — which is exactly why it has become the standard for protecting new vehicles, leases, daily drivers, and collector cars alike. Whether you drive a new Tesla off the lot in Queens or garage a 911 in Westchester, the math is the same: protecting paint costs a fraction of repainting it.

Know the Difference

PPF vs Ceramic Coating vs Vinyl Wrap

These three get confused constantly. Here's the honest breakdown — and why serious protection usually means combining them.

What it does PPF Ceramic Coating Vinyl Wrap
Stops rock chips & impact damage Yes — its whole job No Minimal
Self-heals light scratches Yes, with heat No No
Gloss & hydrophobic finish Hydrophobic top coat Yes — its whole job Finish-dependent
Changes the car's color or look Clear, matte, satin or Color PPF No Yes — its whole job
Typical protection lifespan Up to 10-year warranty Years, with maintenance 5–7 years

The strongest setup is the stack: PPF on the impact zones, ceramic coating over the whole car for gloss and easy washing, and paint correction first if the paint needs restoring. Want a color change with protection built in? That's vinyl wrap territory — or Color PPF, which does both at once.

Built for NYC

Why New York Drivers Need PPF

Potholes & Debris

The Cross Bronx, the Deegan, the BQE — NYC highways throw gravel, broken asphalt, and construction debris at your front end every single day. The front bumper, hood, and fenders take constant fire. PPF absorbs it.

Winter Road Salt

Salt and brine eat at exposed paint and pit your finish through the winter months. Film is a sacrificial barrier — the salt attacks the urethane, not your clear coat.

Street Parking Reality

Door edges, bumper scuffs, bags dragged across a fender. If your car lives on the street in the Bronx, Brooklyn, or Manhattan, light scratch traffic is a fact of life — and self-healing film erases it in the sun.

Resale & Lease Protection

PPF keeps factory paint original, which is exactly what dealers, lease inspectors, and buyers look for. Protect it now or pay for the respray later.

We install PPF for drivers across all five boroughs, Westchester, and the tri-state area at our climate-controlled Bronx facility.

FAQ

Paint Protection Film Questions, Answered

What does paint protection film actually protect against?

PPF is a thick, clear thermoplastic urethane film that absorbs impacts before they reach your paint. It shields against rock chips, gravel, road debris, winter salt, bug splatter, bird droppings, light scratches, and the swirl marks that come from years of washing. It's the only product that provides real physical impact protection — waxes and coatings can't stop a rock.

How long does PPF last?

The STEK films we install are backed by a manufacturer warranty of up to 10 years against yellowing, cracking, peeling, and staining. With proper care, the film protects your paint for the life of that warranty — and when it eventually comes off, the factory paint underneath still looks the way it did the day the film went on.

What does self-healing mean?

The top coat of STEK film is engineered to re-flow when it warms up. Light scratches and swirl marks in the film literally disappear with heat from the sun, a warm garage, or warm water. The film takes the abuse, heals itself, and keeps your paint untouched.

Will PPF damage or discolor my paint?

No. Professionally installed and removed PPF protects factory paint — it doesn't harm it. STEK's top coat is engineered against the yellowing older films were known for, and the adhesive is designed to release cleanly when the film is professionally removed.

Should I get PPF or ceramic coating?

They solve different problems. PPF is physical armor — it stops rock chips and scratches. Ceramic coating adds gloss, hydrophobic water behavior, and easier washing, but it cannot stop a rock. Many of our customers combine them: PPF on the high-impact zones, ceramic coating over everything for gloss and easy maintenance.

How much does PPF cost?

It depends on your vehicle and how much coverage you want — front bumper only, full front, or full body. Every quote is custom to the car and the film package, so send us photos or stop by the shop and we'll give you an exact number for free.

How long does installation take?

A front bumper can usually be done in a day. Full front coverage typically takes one to two days. A full body wrap runs three to five business days depending on the vehicle. Every install happens in our dust-controlled Bronx facility.

Can PPF be removed later?

Yes. PPF is designed to be professionally removable without damaging factory paint. That's part of why it protects resale value — the paint underneath stays original and flawless.
